'New Moon' trailer will play in front of 'Bandslam' -- will you see it?

For years now, Hollywood has played a deft bait-and-switch game of announcing that the new trailer for an upcoming Must See Movie would play in front of another film from the same studio that, quite frankly, could maybe do with a box-office boost. So Summit Entertainment’s announcement today that it will put the brand spankin’ new preview for The Twilight Saga: New Moon in front of Summit flick Bandslam when it opens this weekend should shock nobody, especially considering just how crowded this coming weekend will be at the box-office: You’ve got District 9 pulling in the sci-fi fans (and the just plain awesome movie fans), The Time Traveler’s Wife pulling in the romantic weepy movie fans and fans of the romantic weepy novel it’s based on, and Ponyo pulling in the family film fans and the Hayao Miyazaki animation fans, not to mention moviegoers who’ve yet to devour Julie & Julia or subject themselves to G.I. Joe. Sure, Bandslam’s got HSM queen bee Vanessa Hudgens in its corner, but against this onslaught of cinema competition, the flick could do with a ticket sales booster shot courtesy Taylor Lautner’s abs.

But will it work? You tell me, PopWatchers: Are you enough of a die-hard Twihard that you’ll buy a ticket to Bandslam just to see the new New Moon trailer? Or are you content to just watch it online? I assume if you read this far, those two questions should cover you, but just in case: Or were you already planning on checking out Bandslam, and are now concerned that your theater will be overrun by screaming members of Team Jacob?

Peter Facinelli Dishes on Vampire Baseball and Carlisle Cullen

Peter Facinelli is on a family road trip driving up the West Coast in an RV with Jennie Garth and their three daughters heading to the Vampire Baseball Game in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, July 4. As Carlisle Cullen, Peter has become a Twilight fan favorite and RadarOnline.com spoke with him Friday while he took a break from driving and Jennie cooked up bacon and eggs for the family breakfast in the RV.

RadarOnline.com: How is the trip going?
Peter Facinelli: It’s really pretty; I’m sitting outside the motor home park right now it’s really beautiful. There’s no coast but it’s beautiful. It looks a lot like Twilight. There are lots of big tall pine trees.

RO: Are you a safe driver?
PF: Well I had a rough patch last month, I got four tickets in three weeks all for different things, I was some kind of police magnet, I don’t know why. I’m going to fight all of them; you never want to admit you’re wrong. I should go there in person and fight all of them.

RO: Tell us about the baseball game tomorrow?
PF: We’re going to test our vampire baseball skills in front of a large crowd and I think a lot of people are going to find out that a lot of the cast member s don’t know how to throw a ball and they just made us look good. The Make-A-Wish Foundation asked if I would play and I thought it was for a really good cause. I like doing charity events because I think it’s important to give back. I played baseball when I was younger but I haven’t played in a long time, so it should be fun. I hope Rachelle’s on my team. She’s the one with the wicked curve ball, right? I don’t know, I’m showing up with my old oiled glove and waiting to see where the coach puts me. I don’t even know who the coach is. I might be the coach for all I know. I think Carlisle should definitely be the coach. The difference is tomorrow there are no special effects, whatever speed we run and however we hit the ball is the real deal. We’re going to have no stunt doubles tomorrow.

RO: Did you have a stunt double while filming Twilight?
PF: I didn’t because I didn’t have to do that much, all I had to do was slide into second base which they actually gave me a stunt double for but I told them I think I can handle this. So I practiced. It was supposed to be a super slide so I jumped off a little mini tramp and so it was fun. I like doing stunts, stunts are fun for me. I try to do as many of them as I can. During the slide I bruised up my leg pretty bad.

RO: Good thing you play a doctor, were you able to self medicate?
PF: Yes, a little ice and I was fine. I took two aspirin and I called myself in the morning.

RO: When I would take trips with my family our Dad would threaten to pull over and spank us every time, do you ever have to do that?
PF: Only three times a day. Don’t make me pull this 34 foot RV over, don’t make me do it!

RO: What do your girls think about Daddy getting recognized on the street?
PF: I think they’re getting used to it. It’s a little time consuming but I just try to give back to the fans. When I was growing up and I went over to the guy to get an autograph and he said no because they were too busy you would go home with that, so I try to really go out of my way to make sure that I’m good to the fans because they’ve been so good to us.

RO: Are you looking forward to getting back to Vancouver?
PF: Yeah, it’s so quick. It’s like a blink of an eye and we’re shooting the third one already. I had a little time this summer to hang with my family, then we’re going to New York to see my folks, and then I think we’re going to Hawaii for a week. I’m trying to spend as much time as I can with my family because in August I’m busy with the clips and then I’m going to do the second season of Nurse Jackie.

RO: Have you read the script for the third movie?
PF: No, I haven’t. I’m supposed to be getting it next week.

RO: Is there anything you would change for your character?
PF: I wish that he didn’t disappear so much. I would have had him go to Italy and do more. He knows the all the Volturi and he could have helped smooth things over. Maybe had a cappuccino with them and said “Hey, you know, this isn’t cool.” And I don’t want to give it away for people who haven’t read the fourth book, but like any typical doctor when the baby is due, he’s not there. He’s off on the ninth hole somewhere playing golf; I was like, what’s going on?

RO: Have you given Rob and Kristen any advice about dealing with the fame?
PF: I don’t think there’s any advice to be given. It’s a learning curve. Even for me, I’ve been working for 15 years and I’ve never had the kind of fan base this movie has. People always come up to me and said they like me in my old movies but with a movie like this when I walk somewhere people’s faces actually drop when they see me or fans will scream when they see us. That takes some getting used to; I wish someone would give me some advice. If people are watching, what are you going to do with that? You turn it around and try to do positive things like work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I feel very lucky to be able to do that.

RO: What is filming like, do you have a good time?
PF: We like to be around each other. We hang out a lot together after work. For me it’s very much like a family, I like being with them and I like when we’re all together. Especially when we’re all in scenes together, that’s always fun. It’s a good cast; it’s a good bunch of people. We all like each other so that’s important. Rachelle is the tour guide when we’re up there, she’s Canadian and she tells us all the good places to go.

RO: What did you think about doing a vampire movie?
PF: When I got a phone call from my agent asking if I wanted to do a vampire movie I didn’t want to do it, so I read the book in a day and I fell in love with it. I thought it was a great story. It’s like a throwback to the old Bella Lugosi movies where it had the mystery and seductiveness of the old stories. That is why I enjoyed vampire movies. Somewhere along the line they became horror zombie movies and so that’s what I thought when I first heard of it, but when I read it and realized that it wasn’t about that I said sign me up!

Daniel Cudmore Interviw as Felix in New Moon

We recently had the opportunity to interview Daniel Cudmore who plays Felix in The Twilight Saga; New Moon. Dan has appeared in a number of films, but is probably most widely recognized for his portrayal of Colossus in the X-Men movies.

How would you characterize the New Moon audition process?
It was very unexpected for me. I had auditioned for one character and was called about a call-back for another character which somehow I had no idea about. Fortunately, I couldn’t make the call-back and had a chance to get it right and put it on tape. A week later I got the good news.

How would you characterize the make-up and costuming process? Some of the actors have had difficulty with the contacts. Did you find them difficult to use? Did the costume help you find the character?
I found the whole process a lot of fun, I wear contacts normally so it wasn’t uncomfortable. The whole costumes when put together were so cool, and really helped with getting right into that character. It also helped that my skin was pretty much the same color as a vampire’s after a nice Vancouver winter.

How did you and the other Volturi and Guard cast members build your character relationships?
Charlie Bewley and I met at a costume fitting and got together a few days later for a coffee to chat about New Moon We both have a very similar background and outlook on life so we got along right away, which helped with our characters since they’ve had quite a long working relationship and haven’t gotten sick of each other yet.

How did you prepare for the role of Felix? Did you focus on a specific trait or idea as you prepared? You have talked about building back story for Felix. Can you give us some insight into that process and how you translated that to your scenes?
I definitely worked on this character for a while, I really liked his animalistic side and how good he is at what he does. I also worked out that his rage comes from jealousy, not having a power like the rest in the coven and Aro’s fascination with Edward fuels it even more. It was a fun character to play.

When we interviewed Charlie Bewley, he spoke about how your characters have a tag-team type of relationship in the movie. How would you describe Felix and Demetri?
Haha, very much bad cop good cop, except I really never interrogate, just rip vampires apart. It’s a great system they have and it’s worked for a while now.

We understand that you have done a lot of stunt work in the past. What is the coolest/most challenging stunt you have ever done, and did you enjoy your stunt work in New Moon?
I have been fortunate enough to do a lot of stunt work which has been a lot of fun and helped a lot with the fight scene on New Moon. I think the coolest stunt so far is this fight scene. It’s great to be the actor and getting to do all the fight choreography helps with the performance and really makes me feel a part of this character. I can’t wait for people to see it, JJ Makaro and his team put together a really cool fight and Simon Burnett (Rob Pattinson’s double) did such a great job.

What parts of filming did you find challenging (i.e. filming in front of a green screen, the makeup)? What was most enjoyable?
I think the shoot went really smoothly, the only thing would have to be the costume being really warm, so the long days of action work were a little sweaty. But it was all worth it once we got to film in Italy, it was gorgeous over there.

You had, no doubt, seen footage of the Twilight fan mania at some time. You started out filming in relatively low-key Vancouver, and went on to film in Italy. Did you expect so many fans? How would you characterize the experience of filming in Italy?
Haha, I’ve never seen anything like that. I thought they would have no idea who I was, but wow I was wrong. Filming there was such a great experience, I’m very fortunate to get to do things like that, with a great cast and crew.

Many of your roles have been in fantasy-based films. Do you prefer that genre? What is your dream role? What are some of your upcoming projects? Are you looking forward to the other Twilight Saga films?
I think it’s a very cool genre since all the characters are so imaginative. I’ve always wanted to be in a Bond film, I’m a huge fan of 007 and one of these days I’d like to get in one. I’m not locked into anything yet, there are some things in the works but the next film starts so soon, I might not have time for anything else.

Do you have anything more that you’d like to share with Twilight fans?
Just that it’s so great to be attached to this project because the fans are so passionate about it which is great to see, and I hope everyone enjoys New Moon as much as I did to film it.

New Moon Book Review | Ashley Greene Dishes New Moon Romances

Twilight cutie Ashley Greene hosted an event at Kitson last night benefiting the Donate My Dress Charity in WeHo.

We heart Ash, so natch we had to snatch her first and get some of those nasty little hookup questions off our chest, before going back and celebrating a great cause.

Filming New Moon seems different from Twilight. Is it too overwhelming now?
It's seriously so much fun still. Not too overwhelming yet, because I'm really enjoying and lucky to be doing what I'm doing. Everyone on the set is friends—we all go out together and have dinners. But yeah, it's crazy because all of a sudden everyone cares what you're wearing, what you're drinking, who you're kissing.

Who you're kissing, huh? Does that mean things are getting frisky up in Vancouver? We hear things about Rob and Kristen.
This is the thing, I look at magazines. I don't know why, but other people's lives intrigue us for some reason. Especially with this movie in particular, all of our chemistry is so great onscreen that people want it to be real offscreen, and even if it isn't, they are still going to say that it is.

Well, we also hear you might be dating your onscreen love, Jackson Rathbone, too. True?
[Grins] Um...Jackson is a sweetheart. But we're...um. No.

Ashley's publicist then came up and said that J & A "seriously" weren't dating, but we think everything was in that sexy little smirk. Dating was probably the wrong word. Maybe (and hopefully) they are just enjoying their time filming together, like so many others up there are.

Ms. Greene is quite refreshing. It's rare in this town to find a gal who is actually having fun and who is grateful for a job tons would kill for.

Can't wait to hear what happens when Rob, Kristen and Ashley go to Italy in a bit to start filming over there.
